What happened before labor started?
I'm almost 38 weeks with my first baby so I'm questioning every little thing at this point. Please bear with me!
This morning I woke up with menstrual-like cramps just like I used to get before I got my period. It was a constant pain so there was nothing to time but there was also a couple of stabbing pains in my lower back. I feel better now besides twinges of pain every once in a while and the ever-present pelvic pressure.
Did anybody experience similar before labor or during the last weeks of pregnancy? Is it a whole new level of Braxton Hicks?

your're going to feel a whole bunch of new things in that last couple of weeks, but when you go into labor you'll know it!! Trust me!! For now I would just try and keep your self as comfortable as possible. What your feeling is very normal.

That's what I figured. DH said I should just stop working but I felt I'd just be wasting my time at home. I felt that if it was the real thing, then I would know. Thanks for the response!

Honestly I think your DH is onto something. I did this at 38 1/2 weeks and it was the best thing for me. I was able to relax when I wanted to and then go out and do last minute things when I felt up for it. I would give it serious consideration. All the best to you.

Re: What happened before labor started?
That's how it started for me! I lost my plug and started cramping in the middle of the night. Two days later I had my DS!
start timing it! Mine started at 10-15 intervals (but I could sleep through them the first night)

Not necessarily. [The first time] I didn't realize I was in labor for 2 hours. It wasn't until my mucus plug came out that I realized I was in labor and not just in some sort of weird pain.
I had some weird happenings the day I went into labor...a strange, random bout with diarrhea, I cleaned my kitchen for 2 solid hours and had lost several centimeters in belly height from week 37 to week 38 [my baby was born just before week 39 began]. The key is steady, predictable pain that lasts from about 30 seconds to a minute. It can be in your back or belly.

Re: What happened before labor started?
little by little I was feeling more pressure, more twinges and an increase in back pains. I also lost all my energy the weekend over the weekend and sun AM I lost my water. The actual labor to me feels like serious AF cramps.
