What happens at 12 week appt?
I had my 8 week appt last night, and I'm scheduled again in 4 weeks. I was told there wouldn't be an ultrasound. So what do they do at that appt? Listen for the heartbeat? Just wondering if I should have DH come or not...don't want to make him rush out of work if he doesn't have to.

Did you schedule your 1st trimester ultrascreen? It's usually done between 11-13 weeks.
My 12 week was my ultrascreen sono.

hmmm he mentioned an ultrascreen but I don't think we're doing it at 12 weeks. I guess I could call. Thanks!

Well usually your ultrascreen takes place around your 12 week appt. If your Dr. didn't mention anything I would call and ask when you are going to have it, it needs to be done between 11 and 13 weeks. It's when they do a nuchal translucency scan (it's a specific sonogram used as a Down's screening) in combination with a blood test.
Otherwise your normal 12 wk appt they'll probably listen for the HB with a doppler, weigh you, take your BP, urine sample and send you on your way.

It is optional... all screening tests are optional, but her Dr. should have mentioned it to her to at least give her the option.

He may have called it a Nuchal. I would definately call because if you do decide to have it done, it's a small window to get it done by.

yeah I would call them. Some insurance companies do not cover it. It is called another name its an ultrascreen and a finger prick It has to be done between weeks 11-13.5

My doctor said the 12 week appt will be heartbeat, measurements, weight, etc...
I scheduled my ultrascreen for just over 12 weeks. My doctor said it is optional but we wanted to do it. We have to go to another office to do the ultrascreen.
