What happens when a school district doesn't pass?

I really want to understand this...

Before motherhood I never gave a thought about school budgets. Now I have kids going to a particular school district that I learned this morning did not pass their budget. What will happen? What kind of cuts should I expect? Do the taxes increase either way passing or failing a budget? I also learned from news12 that they are going to do a revote. Anyone know the chances of it passing due to a revote?

its goes for a revote, sometimes the district revises the budget for the revote sometimes they dont.

If the budget fails, some districts fall back on an austerity budget.

If it fails for a second time, yes there are cuts. Generally to teachers, after school programs, sports and clubs. The specific cuts though are district specific. What one district cuts due to a failed budget another may not.

I'm figuring children with special needs could also be cut to some degree too? Some people I've talked to this morning who are in my school district are saying this could be a good thing too I'm just really trying to figure it out.

Many districts are ending their sports programs, transportation (meaning NO busing for anyone), and firing teachers making classes MUCH bigger.

its a no win situation when the budget fails.
