What have you given up since TTC?

We are going to start this month and besides the obvious, drinking, smoking have you given anything else up?

Re: What have you given up since TTC?

I don't drink, I've almost given up coffee (and it was painful! I'm down to one cup of half caff per day). I gave up running for the time being--couldn't find info one that it was truly not good, but I question it, so I'm walking or riding a bike instead. Also, diet foods/beverages. I can't find anything that says they are bad, but I don't trust them.

That's about it. Other than that, I'm trying to watch what I eat and taking folic acid supplements, plus a multiple vitamin religiously.

Re: What have you given up since TTC?

I am not going to start ttc until March, but I am getting very prepared. I started working with a nutritionist (i used to do weight watchers and I wasn't losing anything!) so that I can lose weight. I started a vitamin regimen which includes folic acid supplements. I started exercising (to get generally healthy, but also to aid in my weight loss). I am weaning myself off xanax...which I am finding a lot easier than I thought! I also used to eat sushi and I have given that up in preparation.....also, gave up caffeine, diet soda....and any fake sugars or foods.....

Wow anything else? I haven't given up drinking just yet - I still have a few months - I will cut down though (I drink red wine now and I drink 2 glasses a night....) sometimes more on the weekends....!

I can't wait until March, but I am going to enjoy these next few months in getting in tune with my body and preparing for what is to come!

Re: What have you given up since TTC?

I'm weaning myself off of coffee. I actually have a pretty bad headache right now.

Why do we have to do this again???

Should I stop running??

Re: What have you given up since TTC?

i gave up coffee. Which i only drunk like twice per week. I now drink more green tea. I also take my vitamin every single day if I can. I also dont eat sushi anymore only if it is the California rolls. I dont socially drink anymore. But i do have aglass of wine or wine cooler like 5 times per month.

My friend who just had a baby said dont give up anything until u find out your preggos b/c after that u can't really eat what u used to. And she said "trust me u will miss that very very much"

So now that I am looking to have a baby after my m/c i am not going to cut out everything just some things.

From what my Dr said, I can continue to go to the gym and play softball even after i conceive as long as my heart rate doesn't go above 140

Re: What have you given up since TTC?

I'm not sure running is bad. My doctor said I could keep doing it, but I do know my heart rate goes over 140 usually, and I get really overheated, which I've heard is not good. So I'm cutting it out for now.

I'm probably being overly cautious. I'm also up there in age for a first pregnancy, so I'm trying to do what I reasonably can to see that this happens quickly

Me too..I am not a smoker, I'm not a coffee drinker or a big alcohol drinker, so at this point I dont think cutting back on anything is necessary.

Caffeine, I have lost weight (52 pounds), and try to avoid certain cheeses- feta, fresh mozzarella. I also exercise 3x a week.

Re: What have you given up since TTC?

Alcohol.

I was never a big drinker but leaned out of ANY alcohol during O/BD time.

As long as you are not doing anything that could harm your stomach (crunches, sit ups, etc), you should be able to keep up your workout schedule. Your doctor will know best what you should and should not do. I'm a runner and I also do HIIT and pilates. My doctor says keep at it but don't introduce anything new (like weight training or other hard-core cardio) if I haven't been doing it before.
