What If?

What if I don't wait the 2 months to try to get pg again after my m/c? What could happen? Anyone know any pros & cons?

This is what I don't get...Dr tells me that a woman can have a m/c and just think AF is late. BUT, if you didn't know you had a m/c wouldn't you try the next month again? So why do I have to wait just because I know?

Just curious, I guess I am trying to rationalize not waiting...

I don't know the medical reasons but you should ask. Also, if you had a D&C, I think you have to wait so that you can heal.

Re: What If?

I am wondering if there is no medical fact or practice in waiting time, or if it left up to dr's opinion. I

wasn't too far along when I had the m/c, about 5 weeks, 5 days, and didn't have to undergo a d&c(so far no d&c, i m/c exactly one week ago today)

I just called the dr, i need to know why-Damn instant gratification problem i have!

Re: What If?

You must be a Leo....instant gratification, that's me too!!

I am pretty sure that after a D&C it is suggested (insisted on, by my Dr.) to wait 3 cycles so that your uterus has time to heal and that there is some lining to "hold on to".

If you didn't have a d&c, I know it takes some time for all the tissue to be expulsed or absorbed into your system, so perhaps it is suggested so that you can be sure everything is "out" before you start again. You don't want to be pg, and then have discharge from the previous pg, which would get you scared.

That's my take anyway ---

That being said.....I have waited 3 months, and had 1 & 1/2 periods, and we tried this month anyway...

Damn doctors! I think I posted this before, but my doctor told me the same thing after my natural miscarriage at 6 weeks. Well, I conceived exactly ONE week after the m/c and when I went back to talk to him about it, he flat out admitted that he tells women to wait just because of old superstition, and that there really is ZERO statistical evidence showing an increased risk of miscarriage conceiving that quickly afterwards. A D&C is different, but if you miscarried early on, and naturally, there's truly no NEED to wait. They tell you to wait to (a) make sure you're emotionally ready (because I can tell you from my experience, getting pregnant so quickly after a miscarriage is one of the most emotionally tolling and terrifying experiences - I was a total and complete mess, calling my Dr. every freakin' day), and (b) so that the pregnancy can be dated accurately. For example, because I never had AF before I got pregnant, it's hard to date my pregnancy, which makes everything a little more difficult - like interpreting the ultrasound results, determining when to give me the right tests (some tests have to be given during a specific timeframe during the pregnancy), etc. Those are the reasons why they recommend to wait, but if you FEEL like you're ready, then do what you feel is right for yourself. If your body isn't ready, it won't let it happen. Look, I miscarried and one week later I got pregnant, and I'm 32+ weeks, and have had no major problems!

Re: What If?

Thank you for your response! I spoke with the dr yesterday and the medical reasoning behind waiting is to make sure my uterine lining is ready again to take a pregnancy. I def do not want to go through a m/c again. So we will wait at least 1 AF cycle before trying again. By the time she comes around again it should be about 2 months til I am fertile again.

We shall see, 2 months seem like an eternity, at least we have something else to celebrate on our 1 year anniversary.
