I need something as one is directly across from our TV and DH has put some WOOD over it from the outside so he can see his precious plasma clearly during the dayChat Icon

Oddly enough, I've seen people create dark curtains - maybe about 12 inches long at most on a curtain pole over windows. Basically those that can be used in a small kitchen window, but use them for the basement.

How about small wood shutters? Or a duette room darkening blind?

DH and I live in a basement. We have on egress window, which is more difficult to dress, but for the small regular basement window I bought curtain rods (the tension ones) and then bought valences instead of full curtains. It worked perfectly.

I plan to do the wood blinds. They are very easy to put up and just as easy to take away the planks that come. Just get the width you need and then remove the planks at the bottom.

I have dark cherry wood blinds. I ordered them online from blinds.com and they make them to order to fit your windows (whatever size) exactly.

They work great at blocking out the light for TV viewing.

Wood shutters can look really charming on basement windows.
