What info did you get at LIJ tour (Katz)?
I'm signed up for LIJ tour next week but will be 34wks w/twins then & not feeling up to it (even w/wheelchair).
I had a trip to L& D for evaluation a few wks ago so DH knows where to park & we know L&D is on 3rd fl, etc.
*Can you please share what actual info they told you about policies or procedures, etc?

get the live laugh and learn DVD's.... we got so much more out of that than the tour/class. I liked the class just to be in a lamaze class with hubby and get the tour/bfeeding class but if you're not up to ,, you're not missing much. Get the DVDs.
I ended up bringing a pillow b/c it got reallyl uncomfortable to sit in the chairs for 2 hours.

What info did you get at LIJ tour (Katz)?
Sorry I haven't taken the tour yet; but i wanted to know how did you regsiter for it? I've left 2 messages for them to call me back about registering and I haven't gotten a resposne. The day of my NT scan; I went to talk to them in person but the lady was on vacation!

you see the delivery and patient rooms. learned that there is no limitation to the number of people in delivery room with you (no kids allowed). no need to bring much as far as toiletries since they provide everything.

i'm also not planning on taking the tour ... can anyone let me know where DH and I are supposed to park? I thought the garage was for up to 24 hours only, no?
And how does it all work with the contractions? will DH drop me off and then go park on his own and meet me inside?

Yes he'll drop you off & the people at the desk will greet you like a luxury hotel, offer you a wheelchair & provide support. It was a nice feeling!
Not sure where dh parked. He just followed signs. I'll ask him later unless someone else knows the answer and can supply it here.

I belive the tour is free-but you have to pay for the other classes they offer (if you choose to register for them)

nothing, it was a waste of time when I went 5 yrs ago. This time around I'm delivering at NSUH in Manhasset, I was planning on taking the tour but when I asked 2 different OBs in my group they both said it's a waste of time and won't be a big deal if I don't go, as long as I know where to go when I get there that's all that matters they said. So I decided not to go. We know where the parking is, we know where the main office is for L&D and where the L&D floor is so that's all we need, IMO. All rooms are private at this point - as are at LIJ from what I hear- and I don't really need to see...
