What is a euro equal to in american dollars?

Meaning that his order cost $5.00 an he paid 5 euros...what does that equal?

you will get more US dollars for the 5 euros. if 1 euro = $1.45, then 5 euros = $7.25
basically, you ripped him off

He probably didn't know what the exchange rate was, so he figured 5 Euro would cover it. He only needed to give you about 3.50Eur to cover the cost.
FYI - Don't go to England...the GBP is crushing the USD right now!

Yeah but what about any fee that you will have to pay to a bank to exchange the Euros. And why would he pay in Euros? Do you usually accept other currencies as payment for Scholastic Book Orders???
and yes, the pound is crushing the USD now! Thats fantastic!!! My salary is in pounds sterline! Its great!

Yeah, but its all relative you know. Salaries in the UK are generally lower than in the US, so someone in a senior management position might make something like £40k, but its not $80K, its still £40K. Houses are still like LI prices, and worse down in that London...For instance, I saw this house locally and I was thinking about buying it...but you know what £7 million is still £7 million. Know what I mean???
