what is a good book club book pick?
It's my month to choose and I want something really good. What was a book that your book club really enjoyed?

I don't belong to a book club but here are some books that I loved:
If I Stay - Gayle Forman
The Fault In Our Stars - John Green
Reconstructing Amelia - Kimberly McCreight
Hopeless - Colleen Hoover
Where'd You Go Bernadette - Maria Semple
I just started The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty and I'm really enjoying it.

Me before you - Jojo Moyes.
Its a sad read but I think it would defiantly be a good book to discuss.

I second these. I'm also adding:
The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes- Diane Chamberlain
The Universe Vs. Alex Woods- Gavin Extence (Not a popular book, but I truly loved it.)
Anything by Jonathan Tropper- my favorites were This is Where I Leave You and Plan B.
Room- Emma Donaghue
Looking for Alaska- John Green
One Day- David Nicholls
Gone Girl- Gillian Flynn
Defending Jacob- William Landay

Re: what is a good book club book pick?
Here are some others my book club has done (aside from what's been mentioned) -
"We Need to Talk About Kevin" - Lionel Shriver
"Freedom" - Jonathan Franzen
"Lean In" - Sheryl Sandberg
"The Glass Castle" - Jeanette Wall
"The Tipping Point" (Malcolm Gladwell - also wrote "Blink," "Outliers," etc. - which I've heard are good)
"In Defense of Food" (Michael Pollan)
"Cutting for Stone" - Don't remember the author
We take turns picking, and we do non-fiction as well as fiction... we sometimes throw in classics, too. We try to choose books that we wouldn't ordinarily pick on our own, and that have a theme/subject matter that is somewhat controversial so that it generates discussion.
I've heard "Me Before You" is a good book club pick, so I may suggest that soon.
I know "Gone Girl" was suggested - I just read "Dark Places" and am in the middle of "Sharp Objects" by Gillian Flynn. I think all would be good picks.
We also read "Defending Jacob" which my club liked. I think "We Need to Talk About Kevin" has some similar themes, but was a better book (and more focused on the family aspects of the issue, not the legal aspects).
