What is a good book for new parents?
I lived by "Pregnancy week to week" while PG to learn about my symptoms, etc, but is there a book out there that will help introduce us into Parenting?
TIA

"Your baby week by week" or Your Babys first year. Both really good to know what to exepct and what is "normal" for each age

Re: What is a good book for new parents?
I was given "Baby 411" by a friend and LIVED by that book! I swear I would be reading it at 3am, lol..there is a section in the beginning called "the first 2 weeks" and it had so much info that I needed to get through it.
I have in turn bought that book for friends who have loved it as well. Definitely a must have for me

The Happiest Baby on the Block is a good one also, its good insight onto what the author calls the 4th Trimester...this book really helped us.

I love Babyhood by Penelope Leach. Its a little dated, but it gives you all the different viewpoints. Happiest Baby on the Block is also good for sleeping issues.

The No-Cry sleep solution. And I swear by SECRETS OF THE BABY WISPERER. I can't recommend that enough.

Re: What is a good book for new parents?
I LOVE Baby 411- I referred to it a lot during the first couple weeks especially. It's pretty easy to find the information you need. Even my mom was flipping through it when she stayed with me.
I also like The Modern Girl's Guide to Motherhood.

Our ped recommended a book published by the american association of pediatrics, a guide to your child from birth to age 5 - it's pretty good.

Re: What is a good book for new parents?
I like The Happiest Babby on the Block and the Baby Book by Dr. Sears. Your Baby Week-by-Week is also fun, although I don't agree with some of the advice they give. Ditto The Baby Whisperer, some good stuff -- I like the idea of a loose routine, but found it impractical until DS was about 4 months (he needed to eat more often than she advised) -- Also, if you plan to breastfeed her advice could lead to supply issues, so read other Breastfeeding books for that info. I also have the American Academy of Pediatrics book, which is good.
My advice is check out lots of books from the library -- there are so many different authors with lots of ideas. I've taken lots of ideas from different sources and found that works best for me.

Re: What is a good book for new parents?
the 2 books i think everyone should read before having a baby are The Happiest Baby on the Block and Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.
for reference, the AAP book is a good book and also the what to expect the first year is good too.
