Spend Christmas and the holidays just me and DH in the Caribbean on the beach! We've come close going in Dec. the past couple years, but our families always make us feel guilty for thinking of spending it without them...
I have always wanted this too, spend it somewhere warm.

I have always wanted this too, spend it somewhere warm.
IMO, it isn't that great. Last Xmas it was almost 90 F where I live and it didn't feel like Xmas at all.

not buy any gifts from stores, give all handmade gifts and not spend any money to "celebrate" christmas.
Then volunteer in a soup kitchen or food pantry on Christmas day.

Also as KellyFG said, volunteer at a soup kitchen- my cousins always do this before they eat their own Thanksgiving dinner.

Have a giant holiday "open house" style party with neighbors, friends and family. I entertain around the holidays but it usually just ends up being small groups

Go skating in Rockafellar Center and times aquare on NYE. I will probably never do either one since it is WAY too crowded. I do go every year to see the tree. I just love NYC around the holidays.

Spend the holidays country style, in the country, freshly fallen show with a real pine tree we chopped down ourselves. With our family and kids and dogs, skiing and snowboarding and sleigh riding on the hills!

go through Bethpage Restoration Village. The have old fashioned carolers and lantern lit trails, hot cider. Sounds fun
Wow, that does sound pretty cool! Who would've thought hey did that at Bethpage!
And I'd love to do the ride aound Central Park in the carriage.
We've done the ice rink at Rockefeller twice and its a lot of fun, I recommend it! And the Christmas show with the Rockettes is great too!

Reminds me of the yr my sister & bil did this. They happened to pick a tree infested with spiders! Out went the tree and all the ornaments.
I have said every year I want to go to The Radio City Christmas Spectular but never made it. Maybe this year

I've seen the tree and the Rockettes and I've been to the Thanksgiving Day parade a few times (it's where we got engaged) but I'd like to see them all again when we have kids someday.

I always want to tour the most overdecorated neighborhoods on LI..... but DH and I are always busy, and by the time we get around to it, it's always after new years, and the lights are being taken down 
We have started a tradition that we go to NYC to shop at all the overpriced christmas markets in union square, grand central, and bryant park.... with a mandatory stop by the rockefellar ice rink and that underground starbucks that overlooks it  I get my only flavored coffee of the year there.... an eggnog cappucinno
