What is the appropriate amount to spend on a friends engagement gift?

I really like the couple and I am sad because I am missing the party. TIA!!

you want to just give money? Maybe a gift that isn't household related. how about a GC to a good restaurant

IMO..this is a little excessive for an engagement gift especially if you'd be attending the shower, bachelorette party and wedding.

for good friends of mine I usually spend
$100 on e-gift
$100-$125 on shower
$300-up on wedding

I agree. I think $50 - $100 is good factoring everything mentioned above.

I usually give $100 plus a set of toasting flutes....but only for a very good friend.

Yes, I agree, however, I took into consideration the fact that this is a very good friend of hers.

most of my friends gave me 100-150 for my engagement

Usually I give $200 from me & DH. Last e-party I went to I am in the bridal shower. They got $250 from us plus we took them shopping for some odds & ends they need for the wedding.

I'd say $100ish.

DH and I didn't have a party and got such a range from our friends. We got gifts that were $15 to gifts that were $100. My MOH gave nothing. You never know with people...
