what is the appropriate title/personality of a coworker who...

likes to pull rank? I mean, we have this guy at work who does the following:

1. repeatedly likes to remind those under him that he is a "manager" (espeically new people he my feel threatend by)
2. repeately likes to say "just remember I'm up here and your down here"
3. Gossips like crazy and gets jealous and complains if you get something he doesnt have (like even a new freakin stapler)
4. Calls you a traitor all week long b/c you told him you thought he was wrong about something

He is SOOO defensive all the time too. I can't pinpoint what this guys problem is?? he has such an abrasive personality, yet there are times when he is nice too...I don't get it...what do you think it is?

i work with one of those as well. not as bad as your guy, but will make it as though i report to her to other, when i don't. i chalk it up to immaturity and insecurity.

Title - insecure little weenie

If he has to remind himself constantly how important he is than he's got low self esteem & probably isn't important at all.

If he's calling you a traitor, tell him to grow up.

I'd call that person a loser & would have zero respect for them if they were a manager or a CEO.

He sounds like one of the managers at my office. With ours we have figured out that it's his home life. He wife walks all over him so his chance to "shine" is only at work.
