What is the best place to live in Texas

My husband and I talk about moving there when we retire but only heard about the Woodlands. Is this a good place? Where else should we look also it has to be good for kids.

TIA

In Houston you need to be looking somewhere close to where you'd be working. Sugar Land and Katy are good. Some of tghe best master planned communities there are Sienna Plantation, Cinco Ranch, New Territory, First Colony, and Telfair.

Friends of ours just moved to the Woodlands! They love it. Good Luck! ETA They have three children. The kids love it!

Texas is so big and so different! We plan on moving in 3 years (my husband is originally from there). Ideally we'd love to wind up in Austin or a suburb of Austin. Dallas would be my second choice, San Antonio third, and Houston last, way last. If I'm not mistaken the Woodlands is outside of Houston and while it's beautiful, Houston is not my top choice. While it's a huge city it is very very humid and hot (not that Dallas or Austin are chilly). It is also pretty conservative. I'd probably take a little time over the years and visit each city for a few days so you have a better idea about what you like etc.
