what is the cheapest you can redo a bathroom?
Just wondering how cheap bathrooms can be redone these days. I have heard bathfitter is priced well but i would prefer to have everything flly replaced. Sink, tub, toilet, medicine cabinet, fan vent, tiles. FIL was telling DH and I that it would cost us 20K.....which is WAY over what we would be able to spend. We are willing to redo it with very simple appliances. Any thoughts?
*we are willing to some work ourselves...ie:putting in tiles. If need be.

my parents did everything themselves, with subway tiles, through out, restoration hardware vanity, mirror, medicine cabinet, top notch toilet... $3,000.00
it was a complete gut.

Re: what is the cheapest you can redo a bathroom?
We redid our entire bathroom including replacing the waterproof foamboard for under $6000. everything brand new including an Andersen window ceiling, plumbing. It's not a huge bathroom, an average size small bathroom with a tub. so it's entirely doable depending on the size and all the stuff you pick out. My kichen floor was custom order ceramic, my bathroom floor I bought off the shelf. so those are the factors.
ETA: we didn't do the work ourselves you you would be saving there. I can't see a bathroom of any size costing 20K if you are doing the tiling and such yourself.

Re: what is the cheapest you can redo a bathroom?
we don't have a big bathroom but if I remember I think ours came in about $3K-4K with FIL doing the labor.
you can definitely stay on a budget, pick inexpensive fixtures, cabinets, tiles, etc but that you still like
Good luck!

Re: what is the cheapest you can redo a bathroom?
My friend just did her kid's bathroom for 6K. It was a full size, but smallish bathroom. She picked nice, but not crazy, fixtures and tile, etc.. off the shelf at Lowes. She used a local contractor and it was done pretty quickly and painlessly.

With DH doing everything himself, it cost us about $2500 for everything.

I think 20K is way too high. You can do a kitchen for that.

Re: what is the cheapest you can redo a bathroom?
it depends on what you want, but i think a bathroom would be way below 20K! thats more what a kitchen would cost! we have a very small bathroom in our basement and we just redid it completely ( down to all new drywall) DH did all of the work- and i think we spent about $5 K for all the materials.

As part of our project, the contractor is quoting $6k for the bathroom. That's starting from bare studs, and obviously putting in all new fixtures and tile.

Re: what is the cheapest you can redo a bathroom?
we did a complete gut (but kept the plumbing in the original place) and it was about $3500 - DH did all the labor, and we could have done it for cheaper - we didn't go for the cheapest tile, and our granite top is custom.
