What is the difference between an I phone and Android
I want to upgrade my phone but told I am only entitled to an android at the moment. WHat is the difference between an Iphone and android? I am not looking to do much on the phone. Just access web on the go and emails. I currently now have a basic quick messaging phone, but after coming home from vacation, I really need to upgrade.

Re: What is the difference between an I phone and Android
Android has flash.
That's about it.
ETA: Honestly, there's really little to no difference between the two. My sister has the Samsung Galaxy and I haev the iPhone 4S- both cost the same after upgrade, are just as fast as each other, we have all the same apps. The only difference is some videos I can't watch on my iPhone (because of Flash) and my sister can. But I think I only couldn't watch a video ONCE on my phone and I wasn't missing out. Either way you go, you're going to have a phone that meets your needs.

Haha, I only know because I had my sister's b/f give me a whole class on the pros and cons of the iPhone vs. Driod. Flash is required for some videos meaning you won't be able to see all videos on your iPhone, but you will on your Android. Though I've never felt limited in any way on my iPhone because of it.

For accessing web and email, you'll really be fine with any basic smartphone. An iphone and an Android phone just have different operating systems, and maybe some different apps. I have an ipod touch, and an android-based phone, and don't really prefer one OS over the other. I prefer my Droid 4 b/c it has a bigger screen, and a keyboard, which makes typing easier for me.

I have a Droid and I don't see any real difference in what it can do vs what an Iphone can do. Except that I get free navigation on my phone via Google Maps. And Droids make phones with the option of a keyboard if you don't like touch screen only

iPhone also has a built in map with GPS. I even found out yesterday is has a compass! I was taking HopStop directions and it told me to go East on a certain street, but I couldn't figure out which way was East! I can only ever tell by where Manhattan is in relation to where I am.

If something ever told me to go east I'd be clueless too! One time my boss told me- come out of the building and walk toward 8th. I was like- Umm, you need to tell me come out of the building and go right or left. I only know right or left. Not east or west Not walk towards 8th. Yeah, I am THAT directionally challenged!

Re: What is the difference between an I phone and Android
I have had 2 iphone and a droid in between. I used to sayt here was no difference in the 2 other than the operating system it ran on. After 2 years with a droid and the problems I had....havign to force close apps and apps just closign on me for no reason. To me it was all the problems of using a PC and the reasons I switched to a mac but it was on my phon einstead of the computer. As soon as I was able I switched back to an ipone and am a happy camper again.

Flash is going to be going away for good soon as Adobe will no longer be putting out updates to their mobile flash. So the iPhone not having flash is really a non-issue.
Most websites are now using HTML5.
Apple kills Flash

Interesting! Good to know. I'm going to throw that in my friend's face the next time he makes a snarky comment about my iPhone.

Re: What is the difference between an I phone and Android
I have an iPhone, DH has a Droid. His is usually dead before he leaves work or he always has to charge it. He's also had issues with several of his Droids where he had to be sent new ones. Nevertheless, he loves it.
I have absolutely no issues with my iphone that he had with his Droid.
Our apps are relatively the same.

The only reason I did not get the iphone was that it would cost me $15 more a money on my bill. Not worth it to me.

not sure why that is... at least for me the data plan costs are the same...
I just got an Iphone and love it. I was coming from a BB, so no experience with Droids.
I used to never buy into Apple being "better" always thought the buyers of apple products were drinking the apple cool aid........
I've come around. It really is fantastic. I now have an IPAD and an Iphone. when we get a new computer, probbably another year or two away, I"m going mac.

I only pay $15 as I have the family plan with my dh and his phone is $30. They would increase mine $15 month if I got an iphone.
