What is the difference between Keratin/Brazilan/Japanese Straightening?
Sorry about my many posts.
I got the Keratin Treatment alittle over a week ago (paid 250 $) - I think next time I will try something different - maybe the brazilan?
I find that my hair is still wavy and I still spend quite a bit of time flat-ironing it, also the shine, texture is not what I expected......
What have your experiences been with the brazilan/japense straightening as opposed to the keratin treatment?
I am looking for something that will take away more frizz, add more shine and make my hair more smooth/straight. I just feel like I need something a bit more effective than keratin - its only a week into having it done and im not very impressed..tia.

brazilian/keratin is the same and it's only temporary
Japanese will leave your hair PIN straight but it's permanent.. meaning that only the new growth will be in your original hair.. all else stays straight

It's actually barzilian keratin. there are different ones though. I got the one where you can't wash your hair for 4 days. Did you get the special shampoo? YOu can't use regular shampoo, it can't have sulfates in it. It also depends on your hair. I got hte brazilian keratin and mine in pretty straight. I do blow dry it- but just with a comb, no brush. Don't need the straightner anymore.
I had Japanese done years ago and it's $$$.

Re: What is the difference between Keratin/Brazilan/Japanese Straightening?
keratiin and japanese are 2 different processes.
Japanese is a restructuring of the hair and shaft. it's permanent, and completely straight. new growth will be curly. I used to get the japanese all the time. Alot of people say that over time, and continued use, it damages your hair, i never found that to be true. the thing that stinks about it is that the grow out process is torture. for example, i was pregnant, and couldn't get the japanese while pregnant, and so my hair was half curly, half straight and looked like crap.
keratin was originally designed to be a moisturizing treatment, not a straightener. they found that one of the results of it was that it relaxed the hair, but didn't actually make it completely straight. having a keratin treatment is actually really good for your hair. it's a process that you can have done every 2 to 3 months if you wanted to (unlike the japanese where you have to wait longer to have it redone) and it wears out gradually. you could also wear your hair curly if you wanted to.
if you're going to opt to have japanese done, i would have it done either in woodside (mini hair village on rosevelt ave does it for less than $200 bucks, i've gone there tons of times with awesome results, or HairClub IB (i've never been there, but lots of people rave about it~)

I get Japanese done for $150! Like the others said JHS is permanent. But I just wash and go. No blowdrying at all, no flat iron, sometimes no brushing either. Its the easiest thing ever! As it grows out then yes I have to blowdry/iron the roots but it takes like 5 minutes. I will be getting this done forever.
