what is the normal sleep pattern...
for a five week old??
Ry Ry small fry has an irregular sleep pattern. For example, he will sleep well for an hour and half, then he will wake up and stay up for the next 4 hours. Dh thinks that isn't normal, but I disagree. Please tell me I am right.
TIA

Re: what is the normal sleep pattern...
honestly...it is different for every kid.
Some are sleepers some are not.
BUT according to the books i read. A baby shouldn't be up more than 2 hours at a time.

Re: what is the normal sleep pattern...
there is no sleep pattern at that age. I brought Nina to the ped. at 5 weeks and I asked him about her sleeping and his exact response was "leave her alone is is just over a month old, she will do what she wants and needs"

No, no normal sleeping at that point, and they really don't sleep on schedule usually.
Most babies sleep a lot at five weeks, I know mine did. Around 6 or 7 weeks, he started to wake up a bit more though, and that's when the colic began (hopefully not for you though).

Not really true. Babies will sleep when they need to sleep. Unless there seems to be something keeping him up (like he is in pain or sick or something) then you just kind of have to go with the flow.

That is what I thought too.
