What is the procedure for doctor visits?
Ok at 5 weeks I went in to see my OBGYN b/c I wanted to speak to him and get blood work done, but this is what they did- BP Weight Urine test Pap test Internal Breast exam
that was it, no blood, so they make an appt for the sonogram a week later, which was last week It was amazing to see the heart beat but hurt to find the little one b/c my uterus is tilted so ouchy when she was doing the internal sonogram!( she said it was too small to hear the heartbeat but it was amazing to see it) and then that was it, still no blood. My next appt is May 18th, Im assuming thats when they take blood???? Can you share your experiences when you first went to the doctor and what procedures they did? TIA.

Re: What is the procedure for doctor visits?
Well, since you already had an internal and a pap, etc and a sono, then you'll probably just have the weight, urine and "how's everything going" visit. If your doctor does blood work in the office, they will probably do it then, if not, they'll give you an order to take to the lab. And basically, every other appt. for the next few months (except for sonos) will be the same minus the blood work.

I thought they would want to check our RH and beta levels but we'll see if they do it the 18th, thanks again for responding!!!

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it because they did the sono. I don't think I went for my first round of blood work until I was almost 9 or 10 weeks. And if they still don't send you for blood work again, I'd just ask

Re: What is the procedure for doctor visits?
My first visit was at 5 weeks for just a sono to determine whether or not my pregnancy was ectopic. (It wasn't )
My second visit was at 6 weeks, I had BP, weight, urine analysis (sent to lab), pap, u/s and blood work. I believe they usually take about 4 or 5 vials of blood (RH, thyroid, CDC, HIV, etc) and then they took another 8 for genetic testing since I have a Jewish grandparent.
My 7, 8 and 9 week visit was just weight, BP, urine and sono each time since I was spotting every day throughout (most people don't go every week.)
I'm going for my 11 week u/s tomorrow (1st test for downs) and then I'm on the normal 4 week visit (just urine, BP and weight check up)
Ask about the blood work, I think it's pretty standard (only the genetic testing isn't), but I don't think its a big deal that they didn't do it yet. They didn't check my beta's.
