What is with all of the craziness at Hofstra?
Almost exactly 7 years since the Max Kolb murder, there seems to be so much going on at Hofstra. One guy was kidnapped recently and this morning I saw a girl on a morning show talking about violence and death threats in her sorority!

Friend of mine was a resident assistant at Hofstra, and they would train them that if anyone came to them with a rape complaint to 'talk them down and make sure they dont report it to the police so it does not get to the media'.
There is probably a lot more going on there (and other schools) than we really know about.

YES! I agree with this.
We used to love to read the bogus "Security briefings" with all of the euphemisms. There was a lot going on there.

I don't think it's all that crazy.
I *personally* find the Phi Ep thing really hard to believe. I think that the lack of arrests are pretty telling.
The kidnapping, while completely wrong, was 2 guys fighting over a girl. It wasn't like someone was busting down doors and yanked someone out of their dorm room.

YES! I agree with this.

When I went to Stony Brook there were a ton on incidents that you heard about (that were true) that the school tried to hush up...

Holy crap, I went to Hofstra, was friends with a lot of girls in different sororities, I can't picture any of them acting this way.
What's going on with these kids???

no way?!?!? omg! i went to hofstra and was around for the Max Kolb tragedy.
I was a communications major and he was in film i believe... a lot of people were effected by this! a classmate started the Max Kolb telethon and it's been going on ever since...
so sad to hear all of these horrific stories going on at Hofstra.

I believe it!
Sadly colleges are money makers and try to keep any act of violence so all looks peachy keen for incoming freshman and their parents.
I remember Hofstra sprucing the place up and keeping dining halls and the bookstore open longer during accepted students day and other tour days.
It's really upsetting to read these stories

I must live in a bubble, I never heard of any of this....not even the murder 
I was accepted to Hofstra in 2000 but decided to go to St Johns University instead....OMG I would've been a sophmore on campus when that happened....and I joined a sorority @ St Johns, imagine it was Phi Epsilon???

my sister went there for undergrad and grad. she dormed there for a couple years and was an RA. she said that the school worked VERY hard to keep all the rapes out of the media
