what is wrong with some kids?
I hav ea first grader he drives me insane... he askes questions or answers quetions with absurd things.. and I really truly believe that he knows he is and just wants to hear himself talk!
Yesterday: We were creating a list of feeling words to use in our writing.
Kid: "Poisonous"
Me: Poisonous? can you feel poisonous?"
Kid: "yeah when you have poison in you .. it can be a feeling.. RIGHT?"
what really gets me is that i have 10 special ed kids who were giving me words like "embarrassed" and hes gen ed haha
And then today as I handed out HW folders (like EVERYDAY) I tell each child they are sitting nicely so they can pack up and start their snack.. and AFTER EVERYONE has finished snack and are starting centers, this kid comes up to me and says "Can I have my snack now?" Honestly, he needs to start paying attention.

You say you believe he knows what he's doing... is it possible he's really smart and is acting out in an attempt to challenge himself? Technically, it's kinda clever for a 6 year old to reason that if you've been poisoned you'd feel poisonous... a little "outside the box" and quirky, KWIM?
That's the only example you gave, so I don't know, but it struck me as the same kind of "absurd" answer I've gotten from some of my gifted kids in the past. The snack thing I don't know about. Sorry he's driving you crazy!

haha no he does this all the time..
Hes not that bright, hes good in math but that is is. He can't really read and he can't write/spell. Half the time he has no idea what is going on in the class
He def does it for attention but its realy annoying. Thats all i am saying.. that we all have one kid that drives you up a wall, he is mine haha

Oooooooh yes!  Why is it that that one kid is like 10 kids, so a class of 26 feels like 36?

And why does that one child always get the perfect attendance award at the end of the year? Or better yet, the day you decide to take a day is the same day they don't come to school.
