What is your average vet bill...
for a once a year routine check up and vaccines?
I just brought my dog in and they said she needed a routine 'junior blood panel', heartworm test, urine test, and vaccines plus the exam. That all cost $290. I also bought a 1 year supply of Trifexis for $200. So I left there paying $490 and feeling kinda ripped off......
I wanted the Trifexis and I am happy with its results and I knew the cost going in as this is our second year on it. Of course I want my dog healthy and up to date on everything. However is $290 average for a well visit ?

I think we usually pay around that for the check up. I'll have to look into Trifexis, I'm tired of doing the topical flea/tick on my dog and him having a greasy back for several days.

Re: What is your average vet bill...
We are very happy Trifexis, its a once a month pill that we crush into her food with no issue. The only downside is it does not protect against ticks only fleas and heart worm (and other worms?) We live in Queens and she doesn't travel so I am not concerned about ticks

I would give her something for ticks. My SIL lives in Queens, and for the last two years (since they have had a dog) they have found ticks on him a few times a season.
To the OP, I split up his shots (he gets 2 or 3 different types a year) and I think the bill is usually around $200 per visit. The exam, the fecal and urine testing and then the vaccine.

We use Sentinel which is flea/tick & heart worm preventative. My dog did not do well on Trifexis at all and we were happy to go back to Sentinel. I've also heard of some dogs having bad reactions to Trifexis.
Our average bill is about $200 after everything I believe. We paid $47 for a 6 month supply of Sentinel as well. My Vet only does 6 months at a time.

Re: What is your average vet bill...
i just took coco to the vet 2 weeks ago. i only got a 6 month supply of sentinel. it was $264. But she did get her blood checked and got 2 shots.next year she is due for rabies and I think lyme.
I was expecting to pay $400. because when ever i go that's just the magic number LOL
I felt like the $264 was a bargain!
