what is your child interested in if not sports?
I've come to realize that sports is not something my son is interested in. I'd like to get an idea of other things that are out there to keep him "involved". I'm considering art school, Boy Scouts...anything else?

Dance (ballet)- my son Musical theater- both Girl Scouts Piano- both
We're music/theater geeks!
I spent one season freezing my butt off on the soccer fields. I was secretly sooooooooo happy when neither one wanted to continue. I'm much happier sitting in the dark of a climate controlled theater

LOL! That's my son. He's 6 and in the Spring played soccer and baseball. LOVED them both, but wasn't that good at either. Worse at soccer. It's like he didn't want to run over to kick the ball. LOL! He said he always had fun though so I stuck with it and we also loved his coach who's head of the league and encouraged DS a lot. He's playing again in the Fall and we'll see if he does the same. I also want to consider an instrument and he also loves art. My DS2 on the other hand could care less about sports. He's 4 now so not pushing anything.

I have a non sporty ds. He is 9. During the school year he plays an instrument in the band. He also takes a hip hop class. He is usually happy to join a school club as long as there are no sports involved. He's enjoyed Lego robotics, chess, cooking, arts and crafts. During the summer, I have him in a sailing program. He actually enjoys it, because while technically a sport, there is not a lot of exertion required, at least at the level he's at now. I think the main reason he likes it is because he gets to order lunch at the snack bar afterward. Whatever -I'll take it. At least it gets him off his iPad for a while!
I also try to do a lot of activities with him myself. We are regulars at the Natural History Museum and the Met, and we are always looking for new ones to explore. He loves history and really enjoyed the lower east side tenement museum. We also trained for and ran a 5k survival race together. It was tough for him, but he was so proud of himself that he finished it. We are now thinking about doing a color run next. It his hard because his younger brother, who is 8, has never met a sport he didn't like, and is also annoyingly good at everything he tries. And dh, who is also sporty, naturally has more in common with the sporty one. So I really make an extra effort for non-sporty ds to shine in his own way.

I think that is awesome! While you understandably don't want him to post stuff online you could easily encourage him to learn video production and script writing, and have him create videos for the family.
