Okay, I know this book is TOTALLY not "pc" nowadays for very obvious reasons, but my absolute FAVORITE storybook character was the little boy in Little Black Sanbo. I used to make my mom read this story to me OVER AND OVER when I was a kid. I would turn into a zombie when she read it, entranced in the story. 
ETA: Probably not a book you could include in your mural.

You're right, but it's too bad. It is an American classic. But definitely not "pc."
