Re: What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
I buy most of their shoes from Nordtrsom or Nordstrom Rack- Addidas, Bogs, Toms, Crocs, Converse. I've also bought from Kids Footlocker if they have a good sale. Once in a while I'll find cute shoes in the Gap too.

Stride Rite Tsukioshi ($$$$) Jumping Jacks Ugh Boots
My DD has $$$ shoes, but unfortunately she has wide feet and we are limited to certain brands that fit wide feet. I order all of her shoes through Zappos.

What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
I always buy 1 sneaker/shoe from stride rite each season. This is the shoe she will usually wear the most on an everyday basis.
For dressy and trendy styles like boots and fake Uggs we shop Gap, Children's Place and Sketchers.

Geox are my faves for DD but I buy them on sale at 6pm or when Geox has their sales. Uggs or Emu for winter boots.

We buy sneakers at Target and Payless. They grow out of them so fast, I refuse to pay StrideRite prices.
I agree. The way they grow out of shoes so quickly, there's no way I'm spending a ton of money.

This is. DD's first couple of pairs of shoes were Stried-Rite, then we just moved on. Surprisingly enough, even if we spend the money on other pairs she prefers the fit and comfort of Payless sneakers.

My DS only wears striderite, however I only ever purchase them from the outlet, and always when they are on sale...which puts them at the same price as any other pair of lesser quality shoes.
Ditto I buy the cheap shoes for myself- but I figure good shoes are important for her since her foot is growing and developing now

2 year old DD has stride rite, Uggs, converse (which I don't love for her feet).
5 year old DD has sketchers for everyday shoes - she would never wear stride rite anymore. She also has Uggs, and then the rest come from Nordstroms - 2 pairs of boots are nordstroms brand. Oh and Toms. She has better shoes than I do!

First few pairs were from Stride Rite and have a few in larger sizes still in the closet that we got on clearance from the outlet. But, all other sandals, shoes, sneakers come from Target, Payless, etc.

Stride Right for "good" shoes and clean sneakers for school but I also have a few pairs or Target and Payless sneakers for the weekend when he is out playing in the grass/dirt/mud. I don't feel bad when he destroys them.

Re: What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
Stride Rite. My aunt buys two pairs pretty much every time she's near the store.
She has white and blue/white saddle shoes for school. Sparkly pink and all pink sneakers for home, and two pairs of sandle, slip ons for "just cause"
It used to bother me that she'd tear them up but then I realized cheap or expensive she still out grows them. I have to agree (Reluctantly) that the shoes she buys seem to hold up better. May get dirty but dont break down as fast. So for the short time she CAN wear them they are better bang for the buck.

when we took dd to a ped orthopedic- he said that stride rite isnt any better than any other shoe. he actually recommended smart fit from payless.
so she wears those and any other shoes she likes from payless.

Mostly Nike, but he has had a few pairs of Converses as well as a couple of payless sneakers too. I buy everything on sale.... never pay full price even at payless.
DS trashes his shoes or grows out of them so fast that I refuse to spend a lot of money on them.

Stride Rite, mostly because he still needs a Wide shoe, and they have the best selection.
He loves New Balance sneakers too.

What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
I buy stride rite ONLY because we have gotten great deals on them at the outlets. We find a pair for each (they are 22 months) on clearance and they are buy one get one 1/2 off. My DD sees an orthopedist because she has problems with her left foot and has to wear a Dennis Brown bar to bed. He told us not to waste our money on the expensive sneakers at Stride Rite. They are owned by payless and you can get sneakers of the same quality at payless. He said to make sure the souls are nice and firm.

Re: What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
when he was a first walker it was pretty much strictly Stride Rite.
now I buy his sneakers from either Adidas or Puma (usually the outlet), he's had a pair of Converse, and a pair of Le Petit Bateau that he currently uses for school. He is almost always in sneakers.
ETA: I have always had a hard time wearing Pay Less shoes so I will not buy them for my son. and I hate that you cannot find real leather shoes in Kohls or JC Penny. I HATE fake leather. HATE.

Stride Rite Tsukioshi ($$$$) I order all of her shoes through Zappos.
These are the 2 brands we primarily buy for our 3 yo DS. He also wears New Balance sneakers.
I don't buy cheap shoes for myself so I won't buy them for him either.

What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
he is always in sketchers. i bought stride rite earlier this year-they were garbage compared to his sketchers. she always gets lelli kellys her last pair was 1.60. I figured out that I can use my GAP points for piperlime purchases. that got dh off my back. really, the lelli kellys are so cute and gaudy, they go with everything so i don't have tons of shoes for her...she lives in these

Re: What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
Thank you all for the input! Maybe I'll start branching out to other stores now that she's getting older, more fashion conscious AND rough.
I think it's time to hit the outlets, since many seem to get them for less. I typically buy their shoes during the BOGO too, which it figures she destroyed her new sneakers.
I do agree with the ones who mentioned that they typically grow out of them just as they look junky.

Stride Rite for the first 2 years but recently we have been buying at Payless because my DS destroys his sneakers on the playground so might as well spend $20 vs $60.

What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
i just started buying from payless....they are actually owned by stride rite! their smart fit shoes are 'supposed' to be comparable but half the price. i go to the one in patchogue (by waverly ave) the girl there really takes time to measure my daughter and help us pick shoes that are comfy for her.
otherwise i just buy dress shoes/play shoes from whoever has ones i like.

Re: What kind/brand shoes do you buy your kids (2-5yo)
I buy from Zappos
I have 3 boys and they have 3 nice pairs of sneakers and one play...and a pair of nicer shoes for nicer outfits.
Now they have Nike's DC's Converse Sperrys for nice outfits
I think clean shoes make the outfit and it always bugs me to see nice clothes with yucky shoes
