Re: what kind of digital camera do you have?
canons are GREAT!!! DH has one very similar to the first one somebody posted a link for ( digital rebel XT) BUT, they are pretty big, if you're looking for something to just carry around when youre traveling, etc.... SO, i just got a smaller canon- powershot SD700, one of the "digital elphs". haven't used it too much, but it seems great, and the perfect size to carry around in a purse, etc...

Re: what kind of digital camera do you have?
Nikon D70 digital SLR (you can swap lenses). Not sure what you're looking for specifically, but we just bought our nephew a Canon PowerShot A540 from B&H for Christmas, and it's a pretty great camera.
It's a point and shoot but you can also do all manual settings. But you can't swap lenses.

Re: what kind of digital camera do you have?
I have the Canon 30D and I love it. Upgraded from the Canon IS S1 - they have a newer version of that now, the IS S3. I'd highly recommend the 30D if you want an SLR - no lag time and and tons of lens options if you have the budget for it. Only negative is that it is large and heavy but you get great shots and NO lag time so you don't lose that candid moment.
If you want a smaller camera with a lot of options for manual control and a good zoom range then go with the IS S3. It's not quite a purse size, but I found a great cover by Sony that fits it perfectly and it's easy to carry that way.

I looked at the smaller ones but this one was more megapixels (which I have heard doesn't matter unless you are making posters) and a bigger zoom. The zoom was important to me.

Yes, I wanted to graduate to a digital SLR... I've had another one for 4 years now that I took to Europe with me. I used to do a lot of photogrpahy in high school so I prefer an SLR.
Next is a lense upgrade... I have lens envy You can swap out the lenses on the Rebel as well. The latest edition is also very light. I think it might be the lightest SLR on the market right now. Barb has used it and said it's lighter than hers.

I have the same (Nikon D70). Great digital SLR.
I also recommend Erod & Tah-wee-Zah's Canon Rebel kit, ordering from B&H. If you're not going for a digital SLR, the Powershot is the next best thing IMO.

Re: what kind of digital camera do you have?
I have the Canon Rebel too!! I LOVE IT!!
Bu a warning for everyone who already has it... be VERY careful when you insert and remove the camera card... one of my pins got bent inside a month after the warranty expired... it cost $200 to get it fixed!! The guy at the camera store said from now on to upload my photos through the camera instead of using the card reader...
I also have for a point in shoot, one that fits in my bags, the olympus stylus... it works great!

Re: what kind of digital camera do you have?
A small bit of advice - if you're going to spend a few hundred on a SLR, go to the store first and use it.
I was set on the Canon 20D until I picked it up and realized that with my long fingers, my fingernails were digging into the front of the camera. I couldn't hold the grip on the right comfortably, and I wound up liking the controls on the back of the Nikon D70 better.
I'm a big online shopper but for something like this, I think it's important to go to a brick-and-mortar. You also get to feel the weight so you aren't surprised at how heavy it is once you put a zoom lens on it.
Cameta in Amityville is pretty good for that.

Re: what kind of digital camera do you have?
I have Nikon CoolPix, love it! it is so small and compact, fits right in my purse. my only complaint is that when using the flash, it's a few seconds before I can take another pic. otherwise, I am very happy with it, the batteries last a while!
I bought my DH a digital SLR - a Nikon D50. He LOVES IT!!!!! and the pictures he takes are incredible
