Question about tipping? please help...
My sister is throwing a party for her hubby's 30th birthday at a bar in NYC, it's 3 hours of open bar (well, beer, wine, mixed drinks-no shots, or bottled beer)....and then she paid for $350 worth of bar appetizers to be put out that night....
The party goers will be tipping the bartenders as they order drinks...but who and how much should my sister tip?

Are the guests aware that they are suppose to be tipping? A lot of people assume that if it is an open bar that the host is also taking care of the staff. For my DH's 30th bday party I tipped 20% on the total bar/food bill.

Most of the guests are my family, and thier friends, and they always take care of the bartenders-I'll tell to just tip 20% on top...

I would give some money to the bartenders as well. Not all people tip, even though it is open bar. I wouldnt go crazy.. I am sure they would appreciate the thought though.
