Re: Have you ever felt ...

Im so sorry. I have been there and I know others who have to. Just know your not alone, and that many of us struggle just to getthrough the day. Think about the happy things at home when it gets bad and know its only a temporary job may help you cope till something better comes yoru way.

Good luck on your search! Chat Icon

Just give me the word - I'll fire my personnel administrator. I know it's not exactly what you want but at least you know the benefits right?

Have you looked through SHRM's website? I have a membership if yours isn't active.

Hang in there for the right job!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever felt ...

I feel your pain!! I hate my job so much, I constantly have knots in my stomach and I was on the verge of tears almost every day last week. What I am trying to do is just think of this as a temporary situation, as I am actively job searching. Doing proactive things to find a new job at least lets me feel that I have some control. Also, I am trying to do things at night after work and especially on the weekends, to make me feel like I do have a life besides work and things to look forward to. I know this situation *****...but just keep thinking that it's not permanent!Chat Icon

Re: Have you ever felt ...

I am right there with you. My situation is opposite. My boss is really a great guy. After 12 bosses in 6.5 years, I found one that I like. I like the people I work with too. I am just tired of not making enough money, also I am bored out of my mind. I have been ready to move on for a while now, but it is hard for me because I only have my Associates degree. I am lucky to work for the company that I work for now, because the job security is excellent, the benefits are excellent, the 401k is excellent, and the vacation, sick, personal days are excellent. I was even able to make my own hours. I work 5:30am to 1:15pm. If the salary was there then I would stay, but after 6.5 years of dedicated work I am still not making what I deserve. I look everyday, online and in the newspaper. Soon I will find something. I have an interview in the works for this week. Hopefully something will come from it.

Re: Have you ever felt ...

Is there an HR department that you can go to? I think you definitely need to take control of the situation. You say you and your coworkers don't feel comfortable going to your boss's boss...but really, you don't sound comfortable doing your job on a daily basis. The fact that basically a totally different job description was offered to you gives you grounds to go to the more senior person.

I was in a similar situation and I was completely miserable. I would come home from work and just go to sleep. My DH (BF at the time) thought there was seriously something wrong with me. I know now that I was severely depressed. Luckily, my old job asked me to come back.

You need to do something to make your situation better. Definitely network. Let your old job know that you're not happy. Your work situation definitely affects the rest of your life! You deserve to be happy.

usuk - We ARE the HR dept and my boss is the head of it Chat Icon so no luck there...my coworkers and i have spoken about going to her boss, but it does not seem to help from what I have heard....

I just dont want to be there!!

Oh! Chat Icon

I understand that it's difficult...I've been in many a tough job situation...but the fact that you're ALL not happy definitely says something! It's NOT FAIR that one person can make so many others have such a miserable experience. I think you need to rally together and make the management listen to you!

I know I sound like a broken record, but I wasted a lot of time at a job that was detrimental to not only my bank account, but to my health as well!

In the meantime, keep looking! New job dust to you!
