Saw this post on bhb and was wondering what..

everyone here thinks??

Would you ever "cut off" your husband? Or, did you "cut him off" before your wedding?

Personally, I wouldn't.

U mean sex?

If so, I wanted to, to make the wedding night feel more special, but we couldn't hold out, and the wedding night/honeymoon was special regardless.

Personally, I don't think the sex is what makes your wedding night so special... whether you've had it the day before or 6 months before, it'll be wonderful either way.

I saw that post and have to say that I don't really see the 'point' of it personally...

My wedding night was special because we were MARRIED and it just took on a different meaning to be together.. cutting each OTHER off before the wedding wouldn't have made any difference to me - it would have been special in either scenario

If you're talking sex, husband and I did like 2 weeks before the wedding. We just did just to prove that we could. Also we realized that marriage isn't all about sex, and sometimes things happen when couples can't have sex. Like illness, or accidents, etc. That can't be the end of a marriage. So that's pretty much why we did. It was worth it on the wedding night Chat Icon

We abstained for 1 month before the wedding because we lived together when we were engaged. We both agreed to it and it made our wedding night more fun! Chat Icon We were looking forward to it even more!

We also abstained for about 3-4 weeks before in the hope that it would be memorable, etc...but, it backfired because we started, but I made him stop in the middle of the whole thing because I was physically exhausted and my body was sore from dragging the dress around all day!! Chat Icon

Ditto.

But I would never threaten to withhold sex as punshiment, if that is what you mean by "cutting him off"

I have to agree. To each his own but I personally find it really silly.

Re: Saw this post on bhb and was wondering what..

Funny long story:
So 4 months before wedding, I go to confession. Priest seemed laid back, asks if there is anything else. I figure this is my prime time to be let off the look, so I said well my fiance and I are living together.

The priest flipped out. Said I must stop until the wedding. So I said well we are married in our hearts and we are just waiting for the technical date now. And its only a few months away, so priest says if it is only a few months away, then there is no problem stopping it. Then he suggested I pray for will power. So I said (totally lying) we were thinking about stopping for awhile. So priest says good and I say okay.

So I step out of confession, with heat going through my body like I was already burning for lying in confession about stopping. I got back in the confession line to confess about lying in confession.Chat Icon

There was 4 people in front of me and priest ran out of time and mass needed to start. So I went home and explained to DH that we have to hold off. I seriously find it hard to go a week without and this was 4 months. So we make it 3 nights without, then we did itChat Icon

So I had to go back to confession and confess to a priest(different oneChat Icon ) that I had lied and can't hold off, and I know it is wrong. Now I don't know if a penance can go on this long, but I had to say 10 hail Marys before bed everynight till the wedding.

Re: Saw this post on bhb and was wondering what..

i've brought the subject up a few times w/my fh and every single time he says "no way, ain't gonna happen." and realistically i don't see it happeing that way either. we need to relieve stress, not find a cause to create stress.

No since we had done it already. Whats the point? It was special on the wedding night because we were MARRIED.

We discussed it briefly, but decided it was completely and totally pointless. Our wedding night was still incredibly special regardles.

Cutting off your husband is just wrong. It's not like you suddenly become virginized right before your wedding! Like Flee said the best thing about that day is you became a married couple!

Re: Saw this post on bhb and was wondering what..

I think it sets a bad example for the marriage.

Like "I hold all the cards because I can cut you off!!"

I think DH would have thought twice about marrying me then.

But if we TALKED about it and came to AGREEMENT, that's different.Chat Icon
