Having a bad day, need some hugs

I really can't get into the whole thing right now but I've basically had to stop BFing and Miranda is on Neocate which is $40 a can, she's still spitting up like crazy even 3 hours after she eats, won't nap, etc. I'm trying to pump in case I get to go back to BFing and that is so stressful on top of trying to do everything else. I am so sad about not BFing right now.
DH thinks he knows its all sometimes. Apparently I missed when he got his medical license.
Well that's kind of it in a nutshell and I guess it's just all getting to me today. I was hoping she would be in good shape for Christmas and it's not looking that way.

Re: Having a bad day, need some hugs

take a deep breath and know that it will get better, it really will...I know people say after 6-8 weeks it does...but I didn't see a clear, set change in Bella until 13 weeks...

don't beat yourself up over not BF-ing, whatever works for you daughter, works for her...

and as for your DH, we need to find this know-it-all school they all seem to be attending and blow it up!

ETA: more hugs for you Chat Icon Chat Icon

Don't even get me started on the insurance. In all my spare time as a new mom I have to try to fight with them. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Having a bad day, need some hugs

Who is telling you to stop BF? Perhaps a LC could really help you in this situation. I am sorry that your husband is not being understanding or supportive. If you need any help with pumping please let me know.

We are trialing her on Neocate because of possible food allergies/sensitivites. I do have an LC and this has been my last resort after trying other things and not clearing up her issues.
I am pumping so that if this doesn't solve it I can go back to BFing.

I'm sorry you are going through this. My brother had a lot of problems with eating when he was a baby, so I know how stressful it is when they can't keep anything down.

I hope she gets better soon! Chat Icon

Re: Having a bad day, need some hugs

I am so sorry that you are going through this. 2 months down the road and I'm wishing more and more that I had been able to breastfeed, so I understand how stopping would really bother you. Now that I'm at work again I just feel like I have so little time with her and wish we had that bond of breastfeeding.

I hope it all works out for you. AR is such a horrible thing for babies and thier parents to have to go through -- you are doing so well.

Thanks Antoinette. I was thinking of you today. I did everything short of a Total Elimination Diet (turkey, rice and pears only). I just felt like mentally I couldn't handle that right now. Part of me feels selfish for doing that which is why I'm still pumping so my milk doesn't dry up. If the Neocate is some miracle cure maybe I'll do the total elimination diet just so I can breastfeed. I'm just too drained right now to make a decision one way or the other.
This Neocate is soooo thin though, thinner than breastmilk so its hard for her to keep down with the reflux. I am going to ask about thickening it with some cereal which a lot of mom's do.
I am so glad to hear Bryan is doing better. It makes me feel like there is hope. I mean she's not doing awful, there are definitely babies much worse off but its still just as hard on both of us. We're doing a lot of co sleeping for naps and after she wakes up for her early feeding but at this point I just do whatever it takes.
Thanks for the helpful update.

I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time Chat Icon Don't beat yourself up about the BFing.. SOOOO many babies are raised on formula and do just fine, and most of them don't even know it when they get older! DH just found out this month that his mom didn't breastfeed him and he couldn't have cared less... and he's in great health. As long as your little one can eat and gets better, that's all that matters Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
