X-post from Parenting: SIL had a miscarriage, what can I do?
We live far apart. She's in OH, but I feel like we should do something, but I'm in totally foreign territory. Is there anything we can do to make her feel better or to ease the pain of this painful process? Would flowers help or is that trivial? Sending food? Or is it best to not to do anything like that. I'm looking for suggestions or feedback, particularly from people who have been through this or had a friend or relative that has. Thanks

When I lost my baby, DH and I received a ton of flowers which made us smile. Then one day a large tin of flavored popcorn appeared at the door and we laughed. We knew right away who it was from - my girlfriend said she figured we would be getting so many flowers and that she knew i LOVED this company's popcorn and it would be good to snack on since I really didn't feel like eatting a full meal. send her something that would make her smile and something you know she likes and maybe make her think of you

Going through mine, I had people from church make meals, friends send flowers and I got some cards. In my opinion (totally just my opinion) I appreciated the meals and flowers, but didn't care for receiving cards. I just wanted to think of it as "something I went through". I didn't like people saying to me "sorry for the loss" or something like that. To me, it just made it worse. I addition, I got a card like 4 or 5 weeks after which REALLY didn't help. I pretty much has it past me, and getting another card really was not a help to me.
I would say do something that will cheer her up and do it soon (as to not have it linger on). Try www.candybouquet.com - they have awesome arrangements. The one thing I did enjoy was not having to watch what I was eating....
