Diaper changes are getting out of hand!
A couple of weeks ago Sidney (9 months)decided that there is nothing worse than a diaper change. The 2nd I open the diaper she starts to roll over. I try to hold her in place expecially when its a poop but she turns red and screams and fights to get over. A couple of times I ended up wiping her butt while holding her by the legs while she was upside down. This can't be right!!! We get poop EVERYWHERE...its soooooo frustrating. I give her every toy imaginable to keep her occupied. I talk/sign/make funny faces. I praise her to no end when she stays on her back. Any suggestions!!!

My son is the same way. It seems the only way I can get him not to flip over is to let his legs dangle over the side of the changing table (about from below the knee down). He can't seem to get the momentum to flip over when he's positioned that way.

Jared does the same thing too. He always twists and turns. I let him hold the baby lotion, the tube of desitin or I give him another diaper (because it has Blue's Clues on it) and then he stops. Some moms mount the mobile to the changing table.

For some reason, Sarah is much better when we change her on the floor than anywhere else. So weird....

I will try this but she is a very strong baby....she probably doesn't even need her legs to flip over
She is just the same on the floor as on the table. And it doesn't matter what I give her to chew on or play with...she gets bored right away. Unless it was something harmful (a plastic bag, electrical cord, piece of glass etc)...than she would be happy as a clam!

I can assure you that you wouldn't be the first mom that changed their baby and pinned them down.

My youngest son is like this sometimes. I give him my cellphone to play with and we put a mirror on the ceiling since he loves looking at himself. He's calmed down.

Give her a plastic bag if you think that will work, you will be right there to observe.
I can totally relate to what you describe. Singing sometimes helps, especially if I put her pants on my head first.
Hiding noisy toys that only come out for diaper changes is useful too sometimes.
Of course sometimes it seems like duct tape is really the only answer.

Alex is in this stage too, it is making me crazy. I have tried everything but he just tries to flip and cries cries cries.

Jake was the sam eway. He has gotton better now that he is 16 months old. I used to let him hold something that he would normally not be able to hold, like the phone or my cell phone. It would help. Another thing that would sometimes help was giving him a cookie to eat.

Re: Diaper changes are getting out of hand!
I think that's a good idea to have special "diaper change" toys. Especially if its something I don't let her play with....like a plastic bag or my cell phone (why do they love our phones and could care less about the toy cell phones!!! )
I'm gonna try these ideas...this poor kid has only been getting like 4 changes a day cause that's all I can take!
