I would check her registry and see if there is anything left on it. After that as cheesy as it seems a case of diapers and wipies never hurts, a gift you know they will use. Beyond that the gift I always appreciate most are bonds, and I know someday the children will appreciate them too.

Re: Gift help- for a newborn
My mom always buys 3 pairs of pajamas for a newborn - one for when they're about 6 mos old, one for when they're about a year and one for when they're about 2. You get so much for them as infants that they grow out of so quickly but then don't get nearly as much later on when they're growing. And to my mom, there was nothing better than having a brand new clean pair of pj's.

Thanks! I like that idea! I am sure she has things for when he is a little oder , b/c she has her nephews hand me downs, but I still think it is a good idea.
I may do more like, now, 6 months & a year though, since we see them a lot & I will buy him things along the way.
I was also thinking diapers, even though they buy them at Sams, so they must have a lot, but they do need a lot too, right?
Her mother bought everything left on her registry after the shower.
Thanks!
ETA- I will probably get a bond for the Christening.

Gte something soft - soft onesies or something. I hate when people put hard/stiff stuff on little baby skin!

I never would have thought it before I had a baby, but definately the best gifts I got were a case of diapers and gift certificates to BRU. I'm there at least twice a month to get formula.
