  Danielle called the lawyer and he told us that the seller signed the contract....Woohoo.....We are in Contract.....

Congrats on being in contract. It will be over before you know it.
We need to redo the bathroom, so Danielle's dad and I are going to do that first.
Danielle wants to open up the living room and the master bedroom, and make it a living room dining room combo, so her dad is going to knock the wall down but not totally down...Since it is a baring wall he is going to make an Archway.
There is new carpet down in those two rooms, but after we take the wall down we may get wood floor, or replace the carpet, not sure.
We have to figure out where we are going to put the washer and dryer. Right now th washer is in the kitchen, and the dryer is in the garage - odd set up....but the garagee is attached to the house....

We will paint for now, and decorate and be happy with how the house looks...

I know exactly what you mean. When we looked at so many Levitt houses, it was hilarous to see where they put the w/d. We saw some very interesting set-ups. We are lucky in that our house has an extension off the kitchen with a laundry room.
As for taking down the wall between the living room/master bdrm - great idea! Ours is like that (it was when we bought it, but had it not we would have done it). Ours has the archway with some pretty decorative molding. Our next door neighbor doesn't have the archway and it is totally open. I believe they added a beam to make it load bearing. Theirs looks great too, just a totally different look. Our house has a distinctive living room & dining room (even two different color schemes/decor), next door it is more like one large room (same decor).
It is great that you and your FIL can do a lot of the work. That will be such a huge help.
We plan on putting a new deck in next spring. We were going to do it this year, but thought we could get one more year out of it. This weekend we decided it has to go! Looks great from afar and is huge, but it is in very bad shape.
Good luck and once you start the work, post pics of the progress.
