Automatic car starter problems...

I just got this installed and am not happy with the way it works. First off, my car needs to be unlocked when I try and start it. If not, the alarm goes offChat Icon Is this normal???Than, when I try starting (with the car unlocked) it chokes and doesn't start unless I try maybe three or four times..I think the guy who installed it for me really screwed something up..

I just don't get it..How is this freakin thing supposed to work?????

Re: Automatic car starter problems...

I'm sorry you are having problems.

I have been thinking about getting one, but have been worried about having problems like that. There is so much electrical stuff that can get messed up- after reading your post, it might be more trouble than it's worth.

Can you take it back to where it was installed and have them try to fix it?

he installed it incorrectly or your alarm/remote starter are not on the same page...

Yes. I am def. going to take it back. This guy that my dh knows installed it for us (in NJ). If it makes you feel better, I used to have it on my first car and my parents have it on their car. This mechanic that my dad knows (on LI) installed it on both cars and I don't remember having any of these problems.

I have a car starter and I absolutely love it. I would take it back and see if he can fix it.

Re: Automatic car starter problems...

DH got this for me as part of my birthday present.....it isn't working too well- I have to press the button REALLY hard with a pen point or it won't start- then, it goes off by itself after a few minutes- we have to take it back....Chat Icon

Me too. I love it. And no problems. You need to take it back. Something was not installed properly.
Or maybe your car starter needs changing?

For some reason, it doesn't start when the doors are locked...the alarm goes off instead..

Re: Automatic car starter problems...

i got one for christmas installed and it does the same thing. it's really frustrating because i leave the house early in the morning but really like using it because it defrosts the windows on those cold cold days, yet i fear I'm waking all the neighbors up!
