My sil works in a public school...she was a secretary and needed to take certain classes for required credits...I will ask her and find out...

For most positions, a civil service test was required. I worked for a school district for three years. I was a programmer and was a provisional appointment until there was a test. There never was a test and I left the job before it came up. I left 7 years ago.

Also, check out the Civil Service website (I don't remember it) but they had a list of when and what tests are available. Some job openings too but I don't remember schools.

Yup - Also, the Civil Service test is used by local governments - towns, villages, fire departments, etc.

Yes, you'll need to take a civil service exam to work in most school districts (in the office). I'm pretty sure you'll need to take the "Clerk Typist" test.
