WHen buying cosmetics or skin care products...

do you pay attention to the preservative at all?

For example "paraben-free"???

I work in the industry so this comes up for me all the time. Do regular people notice these things?

Re: WHen buying cosmetics or skin care products...

I do. A lot of the chemicals affect my skin in evil evil ways. Even the Bare Escentuals, which has "natural preservatives" sometimes make me itch if I am having a super-sensitive day.

Re: WHen buying cosmetics or skin care products...

For the most part, no. Most people only ask about certain ingredients if they have an allergy or if there is something mentioned on the news about how an ingredient could harm them. (and that tends to only last for a couple of days)

Mostly people are concerned if it says:

"oil free"
"fragrance free"
"Non-comedogenic"

Re: WHen buying cosmetics or skin care products...

Yes. I stay away from the parabens and sodium laurel sulfate if I can in shampoos. I have read studies (a LONG time ago) that said these can lead to breakouts. My skin breaks out easily, so I try to avoid anything that I think might aggrevate it more.

ETA: I don't think most people pay attention though. I think more people buy what is recommended to them.
