i've seen cedar in a bathroom. Maybe that's a better wood for a damp area? Personally it's a no go IMO.

ugh - my house (i live with my mom) was built in 1988 - needless to say we have teal formica countetops int he kitchen - and you guessed it - paneling in the bathroom. Our bathroom has a vaulted ceiling and a skiylight - so its only really half paneling. but i keep telling my mom it needs to go!

my parents bathroom is cedar- it's very nice
but that is not cedar- and it looks like they put paper or vinyl on the tub

Beadboard is actually really popular for bathrooms...but they did go a bit overboard with the application.

I think that wouldn't look so bad if you painted it white (not sure if it's wood and whether you can paint it).
We put wainscotting in our bathroom and I love it.
