Teachers and Summer Jobs

I was just wondering what everyone's plans are for the summer if you don't mind sharing. I am thinking I want to work a little bit this summer and I will probably tutor some kids. I was considering summer school, but it's not an option. Any ideas?

Re: Teachers and Summer Jobs

My FH is a teacher - he always works as a coach at a University summer camp every summer. He can't this summer, b/c he has an internship.

Re: Teachers and Summer Jobs

I am taking a few in-service courses. You can usually bang out 3 credits by going 9-5 for a week. Other than, pretty much relaxing!

Re: Teachers and Summer Jobs

I have taught summer school in the past, it doesn't pay very well. I find I do better if I tutor. I have 2 students lined up for summer, and I am not looking for much more than that.

This will be my first summer since '97 (when I began) that I will not be working. Chat Icon Summer school in NYC pays fairly well, but I am just worn out. I am going to try and tutor, and there are a few courses that I may try and take. I can't wait to be able to relax and have a few months off from my long commute.

I will be teaching summer school, but maybe just 1 session. I want to save as much $$$ as possible before my two peas arrive.

Re: Teachers and Summer Jobs

I actually put in a resume for summer school Guidance Counselors for Nassau BOCES. Olas jobs had an ad, and even though I really don't want to work full-time - just want to find out about it - hrs, pay, etc. It's extremely difficult to get a SS Guidance job. If districts have any, it's usually just one.

FI and I are both teachers and have worked for the past 5 summers at a Science Camp...it is a pain at times..but we like it...and we are outdoors everyday!

We will probably not do July since we are getting married..but I plan to do it in August

Summer school. My school is air conditioned and I would rather spend someone else's dime than my own to stay cool!

Re: Teachers and Summer Jobs

I am going to be hopefully getting the rest of my master's degree done this summer or at least close to it. I am doing an ITI program in ESL/TESOL through NYC and St. John's and can hopefully have my masters done in a year! I got 15 credits done this semester!!
