Very Strange Question: What do about a boss who won't let you quit?! (long)
Okay, I know this sounds strange, but here's a little background::
I work for a small family company, I've been with them for 5 years and I manage a department.
I've been not happy here for quite a few years, I took measures to get a business license in another field, and now I'm currently working part time in that field, as well as working full time at this job.
My unhappiness at my full time job pretty much boiled over a few months before our wedding, when I indeed, quit my job, but my boss convinced me to stick it out for a few more months. Things went back to normal, I know things were not going to change, and I had a falling out with a co-worker who has been an issue for quite some time just a few weeks before our wedding. I ultimately, put in writing my resignation, and my boss asked me to give more time, since I worked here so long and how hard it would be to replace me, yada yada yada. I agreed, and I basically gave 5 weeks notice.
Tomorrow is my last day. He has not even placed an ad for my replacement, he will not let me send out a notification that I am leaving and he has even been speaking with the CFO about me apparently, I don't know what was said but the man is determined to find me another position within the company and he is just not GETTING IT. I do not want to be here anymore.
He also helped me arrange my honeymoon, which we are leaving for next week. I think he is convinced that my stress was due to the wedding and that I will come back from my honeymoon and everything will be peachy keen.
How the heck do I handle this? I've never had a boss who wouldn't let me quit! I don't want to burn my bridges, but I think I need to really get mean here.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Very Strange Question: What do about a boss who won't let you quit?! (long)
I am totally experiencing that RIGHT NOW... I Have beent ere 10-years - I get the whole it a long time but come on know.... I stayed too and to be honest regret it - I really should have left when I had a GREAT opportunity - anyway - IMO I think if you are that unhappy quit - Just leave - Its not like you didnt give 5-weeks vacation....
You said it yourself - you know things wont change and depending on what issues you have going to a different department isnt the answer......
GOOD LUCK...
Let me know how you make out......
