how much does a new electric hot water heater cost?
the one in our house is tiny and we wont be able to run two things at once, so we have to buy a new one.

We just bought a 40 gal. propane one which are more expensive at Lowes. We paid about 350 incl. tax. Heres the clincher, they wanted another 350 to install so my husband installed it himself. Took him 5 days but it's in now and works great. I believe you can get an electric for about 280-325?

I'm not sure exactly what we just paid but we got a hot water heater and a new burner for $4,000 (that was with installation from our oil company).

When we first moved in we bought a separate 50 gallon Electric Hot Water Heater at Home Depot for around $175.00 - my husband put it in. (we wanted lots of hot water)
It was about 1/2 the cost of the gas hot water heaters, however the cost of electric to run it was INSANE. We disconnected it and now use the boiler (oil) (i believe its built in)
