Just received an email from my RE

He related that I tested negative for NKa! I am so thrilled! I don't need IVIG! Chat Icon Since, we dont have IF insurance, I didnt want to think about this added expense if I did need the IVIg.

I also tested for APA but he didnt respond to that test yet. I just replied so I hope I hear from him soon.

I love that I have access to him via Email!

ETA: He just responded in RE: to my APA and he advised that it is Normal....no need for heparin!

So basically, I have to be concerned about my fibroids, hypothyroid (hashimoto) and PCOS. And of Course, figuring out how to pay for IVF.

Good luck - I use my credit cards Chat Icon

Thanks, Girls!

NkA/Apa are a couple of test from a panel of auto-Immune testing. Women who have had numerous miscarriages or have been unable to get PG, immune testing is suggested. Immune testing is controversial. So if you are interested, you should find a doctor who advocates auto-immune testing.

From what I understand it (please correct me if I am wrong)
Nka- Is Natural Killer Cell Assay. Everyone has NK cells . This is what fights off infection, diseases, etc. When a woman has elevated NK cells, this means that the cells are killing healthy cells. The body will recognize the embryo as foreign and kill the cells. It is having too much of a good thing. Protocol is usually IVIG which is infusion of healthy blood prior to IVF.

APA (Antiphospholipid Antibodies)
When this test is positive, the woman's blood clots too fast cutting off support to the baby. These antibodies also cause the embryo to attach too weakly to the uterus. As a result, miscarriage could occur or lack of implantation occurs. Protocol from what I was told would have been Heparin.

I did test positive for anti-bodies for my thyroid (ATA). Not everyone who suffers from hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism test positive for anti-bodies. I did. When someone tests positive for ATA, this is usually an indicator that you may have other auto-immune issues. My protocol is synthroid.

Well, we are going to consider the Credit Cards but I am going to see if there are other ways of getting around it. The irony is that prior to knowing that we needed IVF, we paid off our credit cards....all but one. We kept one. I cut all of the other cards. So I guess we will now consider it.

My husband still needs to get a sperm analysis. With InCIID, do you have to meet a certain criteria before applying. Meaning, do I have to know what DH's sperm count is prior to applying for the grant?

Thanks Girls.

When it comes to paying out of pocket....any savings is nice. Also, not to mention that it gives me some hope for a BFP.
