BTDT C-Section Moms...
How long was it before you felt better? I mean I fell OK, and I am not bedridden...THANK GOD, but I feel like my mind wants to do a million things while DD takes a nap and my body won't let me.
DD is a week old today and my DH keeps telling me to sit down and relax. He also said all I have to do is feed DD, but I HATE when I have to depend on other people (DH and family) to do laundry, clean, cook, change the baby, etc. I am bF'ing and that takes so much energy out of me. I am just feeling bad about putting so much onto DH's plate.
Anyone else go through this? TIA

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
About 3-4 weeks before I felt like I was almost back to normal. Each day does get a little better. Take the time to rest with the baby, thats all you should be focused on right now.

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
I took me like a month to get back to normal, and start to do things on my own. My DH didn't mind doing all the cleaning around the house, and I just took care of the baby, plus I'm BF and It did take a lot out of me the first few weeks so I was so tired all the time. It will get better, and you will have more energy to do more things, just take your time you don't want to over do it.

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
My friend had a C-sect in Feb and felt much better within a few days and back to normal after a week. Her Dr was a family friend and gave her some special kind fo stitch though so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Try not to strain yourself

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
You had MAJOR surgery, not a tooth pulled. Give yourself time to heal. Your body needs the rest. An unmopped floor is fine. Your stitches ripping is not. So take your time. I developed complications so I was not myself for another year..but the actual c/s stuff lasted a good month.

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
I would say about 3 weeks before I felt good where I could do normal activity again.

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
Hmm, Id say a good month. and then again you feel little pangs months and months later sometimes
But you must be careful not to overdo it. Im usually the one in the hospital running around as if I never had a baby because the painkillers work so well but thats deceiving because when they start to wear off, oh dear the pain the gas pains are the most painful when youre laying down, in your chest (was it me or did anyone else think it was "chest pain" at first..dont mean to scare anyone, just prepare anyone that never heard this...since I was totally caught off guard) At home, the first time around I was doing laundry, up and down the stairs, right away (maybe after a week or less?) and my scar opened/got infected. cant say if the reason was my running around too much. because then the 2nd time I was in ALOT more pain for much longer (day 10 and I was counting the SECONDS for more pain meds the first time aroundI never even filled the prescription! my doc was shocked) so maybe it was because of having a toddler to tend to also... Every case is so different. Overall Im an optimistic person and try to be strong, but you really have to take it SUPER easy after a C, let your body heal in its own time, and.... dont let the pain meds fool ya...

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
I would say 3 or 4 weeks. Hayley didn't come home with me so I was able to rest and not have to take care of her but I was running back and forth to the hospital. She was there 5 extra days and when she came home I felt a bit better but DH and my mom were so helpful. I hate having to depend on others but I let them help because I was in no shape to do everything.
REST!!! and enjoy the help

Re: BTDT C-Section Moms...
I felt MUCH better around 4 weeks. I took it really easy those first 4 weeks. All I did was care for and feed the baby (not that that's any small task!!!). You should take it easy, too. The more stress you put on yourself, the more risk you run that you could end up having some problem from the surgery. My dr told me that even the scar will heal better if you just lay off for a while.
