BTDT moms...
When is it okay to let your baby CIO? My three week old is NOT loving his papasan or swing yet and goes hysterical sometimes. I tend to pick him up...but my DH let him CIO and cry himself to sleep when I was out grocery shopping

Re: BTDT moms...
My doctor told me not before 3 months, but most of my friends waited until 6 months. Some babies don't like the swing, have you tried the bouncer? Or maybe try to get him to sleep in the car seat?

Re: BTDT moms...
I think three weeks is way to young to CIO - they need to feel the security and the love of their parents. My DH says "OH its good for their lungs to scream" When I brought it up at the doctors visit he was very embarrassed! I still don't let them cry it out, and they are going to be 4 months old. I don't know when would be a good time for that though.

I'm not a big fan for the CIO method for newborns - except for sleeping when it's necessary. I consider crying to be the only way your baby knows how to communicate. Later when they learn to modulate their cries to pain, hungry, diaper change or overstimulated, they're learning how to tell you what's wrong.
IMO 3 weeks is too soon for that.

Re: BTDT moms...
I read recently that 0-3mo when they cry you should always go to them. They can't be spoiled. It sets a sense of security for them knowing if they need you, you are there. They say the first 3 months is like a 4th trimester. My little guy is 4.5 months and I just started with CIO....sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
