Well...Caiden had my heart racing this morning...
I woke up to a loud thumping sound and then a loud scream. Caiden climbed out of his crib and fell on the floor! I thought for sure he had hurt himself because of the way he was screaming, but no... he was fine, just scared!
Does this mean I need a Toddler bed right away?

My son only did this once or twice & then learned his lesson. I'd hold off on the toddler bed until you are sure he really needs it.

My son's Dr said if they can find a way out of their crib, they are ready for a bed. Good Luck

Can you lower the mattress any more? And take out anything in the crib he can climb on (bumpers, stuffed animals, etc).

Thanks everyone!
No, there's nothing in his crib he can climb on and the mattress has been at it's lowest point since he was 8 months old.
He's just about 3' tall and he's 20 months old. I was just hoping that we could hold off on the bed until Santa could bring it. The one my DH wants to get him is very expensive unfortunately. He wants to get him the Little Tykes Racing car bed for a twin bed.

Re: Well...Caiden had my heart racing this morning...
Yeah.. welcome to when the fun really begins!!! My son figured out how to climb out of his crib quietly soon there after.. Our crib was a convertible, so we pulled the side off and put up a toddler bed rail.. It took--unfortunately-- a couple of days to a week for him to fall asleep in it without the wall.. My DH and I had to fall asleep on the floor outside of the crib, and most of the time, my son would crawl out and sleep next to us.. we'd wake up in the middle of the night and put him in bed.. It was tough... Best wishes!

I just saw this post.. Wal-mart has a pretty cheap toddler bed, if your crib doesn't convert.. It will save you a couple of bucks, and some time for him to get used to sleeping with "freedom"... again.. Good Luck!
