Scary night last night...not sure if any of you can help...

Hi,

So i am 14 weeks, and yesterday I go to use the bathroom...blood all over. I freaked out and we went to the ER. We were there for 7 hours, YES 7 hours. I was so upset. An ultrasound revealed the baby is active, exactly measuring 14 weeks and ok (heartbeat 162) however...the baby is lying very low on my pelvis instead of having moved up higher where it should be. They have me on complete bedrest for one week, and the week after is "pelvic rest".

Has anyone had this happen? If so, can you offer any advice. I am so nervous and was a wreck all night. Didn't help the doctor on call referred to my case all night as "impending miscarriage OR spontaneous abortion". He was so cold...non caring and told me to relax. HELLO i sat in an ER bleeding for 4 hours before even being seen.

Thanks for listening girls. This was so hard to go through...

Unfortunately, a lot of times the ER doctors (and you'll see the interns in L&D) are so tired from having to work so many hours they don't always think before they say stuff out loud. My cousin is in med school and told me that more than once on the way home he's thought "I shouldn't have said that quite that way."

I won't see the doctor for 2 weeks, he wants me to rest until then and we'll see where the baby is positioned. It wasn't placenta previa which they thought originally. Just a stubborn baby refusing to travel up.

Thanks for your kind words, I will try to relax!!

I'm so sorry Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Rest and I hope everything is OK. I've never been through anything like this, but have you called your regular OB and discussed it with them?

Re: Scary night last night...not sure if any of you can help...

when I was PG I had heavy ( heavier then a period) bright red bleeding at one point continually for over a week. I was told that it was not from my uterus. It was the baby pushing on my cervix which became slightly infected and swollen and started to bleed. The Drs said as long as the bleeding was from the cervix the baby was fine, but I was being watched because the cervix can soften from the bleeding and open.

They should watch you very carefully and if the baby is ok now, you have a great chance of being ok...A GREAT chance I swear!!!

But please ask them if its possible the babys low position could cause a cervical infection. They dont often test for it. It took them almost 9 weeks to finally test to see I had an infection.

Praying for you!!!
