8-12 month mommies (or BTDT), I need advice re: table food.

I've been reading these posts lately where all the babies are eating all this great table food; I'm so jealous because Katherine wants no part of it...what am I doing wrong??

She will be 10 months tomorrow. The only table food she's liked has been pastina. I've been trying with the puffs for at least a month--she just gags on it; it's the same story with cheese, eggs, etc. I've tried the biter biscuits and the zweiback, but they break so easily into large chunks and I'm paranoid she's going to choke so I take them away!!

Any advice??

Some infants just don't like texture. It will change eventually, don't worry! My friend's son did the same thing for a long time (past a year.)

At 10 months Alex was willing to try most things. Now at 15 months it is a struggle to get him to eat meat, cheese or eggs. He only likes mashed potatoes, grilled cheese, egg on toast or tomato sauce. It is like we reverted. He still eats stage 2 fruits and veggies as a side to whatever I can get in him. Keep introducing the foods eventually she will like them. I stuggle everyday with what to feed Alex and I wish he was still eating all baby foods it is so much easier to know that they are getting the right balance.

Girl, it's like they are twins...I have to say our big breakthrough was cheerios...once she started to eat that, she started to get a little less on the gaggier side...they are amazing...

she eats little pieces of hamburger rolls, ate a piece of toast, and that's about it...She HATES pastina...she will let you put some stuff in her mouth (i.e a piece of hamburger or cheese) but she leaves it in there until it either falls out or she spits it out...

I found the Stage 3 foods a help too...they have chunks of pasta and stuff, and she is eating that like a pro. The tender harvest organic ones she LOVES!

They are all on their own schedule, I guess...
don't worry...

Antonio is the same way. Only in the past two weeks he hasn't gagged on puffs (he still does sometimes).

I would put them on his tray or exersaucer everyday put he could never get to his mouth they would get stuck in his palm. Everytme i would feed him I would cut off 1/4 of the puff and put it in his mouth. He would act as if their was an elephant in his mouth. Gagging and making faces. I would just smile and eat them too and try to distract him until he stopped gagging. Now he is up to a whole puff and gets them in his mouth about 50% of the time.Chat Icon

I also give him the wheels by gerber. They don't dissolve as quickly. He likes to **** on it.

Tiny pieces of American cheese and that's it for table foods for us.

Antonio is a terrible eater and I'm lucky if I get him to eat anything somedays.

Genevieve is already eating some table food at 7 1/2 months. I would say to keep giving it to her so she can get used to the different textures.

I agree with the cheerios. I would put a little food on her plate every night regardless if you think she'll try it. She may get curious. I'm assuming you're sitting down for dinner with her, right?

My daughter really had no interest in table food until right around her first birthday. She gagged on anything over stage 2. We would always try but she was a gagger and sometimes a puker.

I do notice that introducing table food later seems to give you a gagger. Joseph started it at 8-10 months. Maddie I started earlier.

Wait until one of you gets the kids that will only eat white food.Chat Icon My poor friend.
