What color should I paint my bathroom?

Our upstairs bathroom has awesome tiles that are original to the house (1930), but they are a funky aqua color with black thrown in. The walls are currently a cream color. The previous owners put up a ridiculous border that doesn't match ANYTHING and painted the door and windowsill a mauve-ish color. The top of the vanity is cream and the bottom is white. The floor is beige stick-on tiles.

We can't swing re-doing the whole thing and we do love the tiles - how do I tie everything in? I was thinking of just painting the walls and door white, but what about the trim around the door and the windowsill?

I have the same old fashioned tiles as you - except mine are black and a dark yellow. We can't swing replacing the bathroom either yet so what we did was just paint the wall white and then with my towels and shower curtains I match the black and yellow / gold colors.

I think you should take down the wallpaper, paint the wall white and then keep the acqua / black theme. It would like really funky & nice OR you can play up the beige and acqua..the black can just be in the background.

I think the simpler the better.

here are some pics - the walls used to be yellow (yuk) but we painted them white and just pick up on yellow / beige tones...I don't love it but I have to use it every day, so...

I think I'm leaning toward the white, but I'm not totally sure yet.

What do I do then about the door and the trim? Do I do it the same color as the wall?

Can you do something that is like quite stark white? Not as dark as off white? If that exists...sometimes white is too harse IMO

i would paint the walls and door white or a creamy white, add crown molding and paint all the trim black. another option (if you aren't replacing the floor) is to paint the walls beige or tan.

I would go with a white that matches teh white in the tile-pretty bright and stark white. You could try to do teh trim in a lighter version of the aqua...or just do it all white. Are you changing your floor?

do a linen white for the walls and do the molding trim ect a high gloss white..

You can 100% see a contrast..

I would also regrout the tiles for a fresh look

i would do white ot creamy white and then use black accents
