Anyone else have a baby who hates tummy-time?
DS is 7 weeks old and the pediatrician says to give him an hour of tummy-time (not all at once) a day. He hates it! We've tried putting him on his playmat which is very colorful and putting him on the boppy. The only place he will stay for a few minutes is on DH's chest. I know this is important in developing his upper body strength so does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Jordana hated it at first, but now at 5 months she loves it!
Just try to break it up through out the day. Its OK if she cries a little during tummy time. If you see she is having trouble keeping her head up after a few minutes she may be tired. Give her a break and start again.

Grace hated it at first as well. She started to love it at 3 months.

DS hates. He won't tolerate it for more than 5 minutes...

DD still hates it! She will only go on her tummy for maybe a minute or two tops, and that's when she's in a really really good mood!
My ped told me not to worry, if she has good head control, which she does, she'll be fine.
I swear without that tummy time she is going to go from sitting to walking!

You have to introduce it gradually and keep trying. Ava gets frustrated at times with it, but she's pretty good about it now. In the beginning, forget it, she hated it.

Have any of you tried lying on the floor with them? It didn't work the first time I tried it, but then afterwards both of my kids got used to the idea. I would lay next to them on my belly & talk to them. I would put a few objects in front of them, etc. I would reach, they would reach. After that they were on their own with tummy time.

Bryan really hated it at first too and he couldnt hold his head up at all at first but I got the boppy tummy time pillow and we did a few minutes at a time throughout the day and after awhile he got used to it.

Re: Anyone else have a baby who hates tummy-time?
DD is 14 weeks and hated it until a few weeks ago. I started helping her put her arms closer together under her chest instead of further out at her shoulders. It helps her push herself up and she has rolled over a couple of times now. Don't fret about it.
