Re: Four Seasons Nevis

I went last year. I would say it was an 8 out of 10.

Re: Four Seasons Nevis

DH and I booked a trip to the Four Seasons Nevis for this week as a non-HM vacation. We were supposed to stay for six days. However, after the first night, we got a phone call that DH's grandfather died. Consequently, we returned home. But here is a review nonetheless.

We arrived in Nevis after taking two planes (we were upgraded to business class on the first one) and a boat operated by Four Seasons. But given the length of travel we did on our honeymoon to the Indian Ocean, this was a piece of cake. We were met by the manager of the hotel when we got off the boat. He immediately called us by our last names.

The resort is expansive. A little too large (190 rooms) for me. It also has a lot of families. Typically, this is a big negative for us, but the hotel basically has a quiet beach and quiet pool. This was perfect and worked out well. The resort also has a lot of activities planned but they all cost at minimum $25 pp to participate in. I hate when they make you pay for all of these extras.

The beach was beautiful. It was long and deep. The sand was a light brown, not super powdery, but nice. The water was very clear but there were few fish. Not the best for snorkeling. But the beach and water were beautiful.

The food was delicious but extremely expensive. The entrees at dinner were over $45 per person. The appetizers were about $20. We ended up buying a dinner and breakfast plan for about $110 pp. This is only worth it if you order appet, entree, and dessert. The food was really good. We had lobster and souffles. All delicious. Lunch ran about $55 and this was not included in the meal plan. It ended up being cheaper to do this because we would not order appetizers or desserts for lunch. Way too much food. The meal plan did not include soda, drinks, etc. It only included coffee and ice tea. I thought that was a little ridiculous. But we go with the flow.

The room was very large and nicely decorated. The entire hotel doesn't really feel like a Four Seasons because it is more casual. However, the service was good (not as good as other places I have been including other Four Seasons). We found the walls to be thin....you could hear people in the next room. Also, our room was on the golf course, so if you had the blinds pulled open, everyone could see in. The first floor rooms on the beach seemed like a waste because the landscape obstructed the view to the ocean. If you want an ocean view, I would go for the second floor. However, it must be noted that the rooms are far from the ocean. DH and I like when its much closer on the water.

When we got the call that his grandfather died, I immediately called American Airlines (who I bought the air from) to help get us off the island. I was kept on hold for a long time and told that they could not get us off until Wednesday. Given that it was monday, I thought that was insane. The manager of the Four Seasons immediately helped me and within 40 minutes from getting the call, we were on our boat. They arranged for a boat for us to take us back to St. Kitts, changed all of our flights, and actually got us back home that night. Obviously, this was greatly appreciated.

All in all, we liked the one day we spent in Nevis at the four seasons. The food was great, albeit very expensive. However, the room was reasonable at $300 per night. The overall resort feel was not my ideal. But it seemed to work and I believe we would have had a nice time if we stayed. We probably will not return because we like to try different places. But I would recommend Nevis.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Four Seasons Nevis

thanks for posting the review. I heard that they opened a new restaurant that has a better price point. Mangos I think.

We'll see if I can make this work. I have a little more investigating to do.

If anyone else has info, please let me know.

Re: Four Seasons Nevis

You have to figure $250 for a couple to eat a day. I think they pull you in with the low room price. I have no problem spending that. But I think there are places that you can go that are nicer for that price.

Re: Four Seasons Nevis

we went for our honeymoon and loved it

we had a package that incluuded golf tennis, breakfast, dinner, snorkeling one day, and a couple massage - we got a pretty good price for it not much more that Sandals St. lucia - we had a 2nd floor ocean view room which was very nice -

we were there in august and it was very quiet - we relaxed a lot and only did one other excusrsion besides snorkeling nad that was horse back riding which was very enjoyable

we flew on two flights directly to nevis - which to us was easier then transferring from St. kitt's

the service was great - we did not worry about anything

i loved the food and i am very picky and they worked wonderfully with me and all my strange eating habits

eta i have a review with pictures on liweddings.com - screen name is snowprincess805

thank you, that is really helpful. They are giving a $500 credit to use at the property as well and my colleague here who goes every year has let me know about the other restaurants. I have the travel agency looking into the pricing of the excursions etc..

We just want to chill out and play a round of golf maybe. I found out on Friday afternoons they have a 9 hole scramble that includes greens fees and clubs, cart and booze for $40!

Would love to horse back ride and jet ski too.

I've alway gone to all inclusives and I want to make sure I know what I'm in for. It gets great reviews all around for the most part and we've been to a lot of islands but have never been there.

I will check out your review. Thanks again.

Re: Four Seasons Nevis

I was looking into going here this summer as well. The rates in the summer are soooooo much cheaper than other times of the year. AM470 - did you go in the summer? I think the rates are almost double that other times of the year because I think I looked into going in the winter and it was like $700/night.

It worries me that it is so much cheaper this time of year - is the weather really bad? Also, how long are the flights in total? TIA Chat Icon

Re: Four Seasons Nevis

I know nothing about this place just thought it was funny you posted it. This morning I was watching Regis and Kelly and Kelly pointed out her friends in the audience who owned something at the Four Season. His name was sunshine!

There's always a chance of hurricanes so we're going to take out trip insurance.

It's $325 a night for the room plus all these ludicrous taxes and they are offering a $500 resort credit. I have to find out what I can use that for. I'm checking out air right now using my miles.

check out haley from beach bum vacation
www.beachbumvacation.com

she got us a great package deal

we don't drink a lot - so this was better then all inclusive- i feel like i would drink to much - maybe one drink by the pool a day and a bottle of wine at night- the drinks were not badly priced - less than the restaurants in Boston
